"Freshly made coffee"
Sitting softly on you cushion
porcelain silence, teak-wood look.
You dust off old yearbooks
high-school sweetheart, engagement ring
The birds have flown away now
and you listen to the sound of
their birth slowing down
moment by moment
Dreams from the black and white suburban
childhood have gone away
meaningful work is done
laundry, dishes and loving your husband
check, check, check
nourishing thoughts I have from you
Warm ovens and the scent of freshly made coffee
You raised me
I raised you
And forever my navel will remind me
of Hungarian summer days
Swedish winter nights
Danish words and caring smiles.
